CURRICULUM VITAE
V. Elayne Arterbery, M.D.
Dr. Arterbery received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She completed her residency in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she was very involved in the prostate implant program. Subsequent to her residency, her first professional appointment was at the Department of Radiation Oncology as a clinician at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Currently she is affiliated with Wayne State University and is a member of the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Arterbery has lectured extensively in the techniques of prostate brachytherapy. She was a visiting professor at the Swedish Tumor Institute. She has lectured at the Northwest Prostate Tumor Institute on the techniques and qualify of life in patients undergoing prostate brachytherapy, and has served as an instructor and trainer in the techniques of prostate brachytherapy across several continents.
Currently, Dr. Arterbery is focusing her interest in prostate brachytherapy in the new techniques of IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy) technique at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, Michigan, which allows further improvement in the dose distribution for cancer patients.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Arterbery received her Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto and her medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
She completed her internship at Henry Ford Hospital and her residency in Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.
Dr. Arterbery is currently an associate professor of Radiation Oncology and the interim associate chair of Radiation Oncology at Karmanos Cancer Center. Prior to joining
the staff she was a clinical instructor at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center in Baltimore Maryland.
Specialties:
As a Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Arterbery focuses primarily on the management of breast and prostate malignancies. In addition to her expert radiation oncology skills,
Dr. Arterbery has been published in many major journals newspapers and magazines in low and high dose rate prostate brachytherapy. She has appeared many times as an authoritative reference for brachytherapy in the area media.

at the Gershenson Radiation Oncology Center and Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
